Saves the Day

It's a week before my birthday, and we've gotten to a special number, so I decided to do something special for this one. This is actually a remix of a human-style comic I did that never showed up anywhere on the Internet, and I thought it would be charmingly suitable to mark this special, though not actually significant, number.

I'm in the thick of preparation for my A-level prelims, but as promised, I'm still trying to keep in schedule. I will definitely attempt to keep updating this year, but you'll know the reason if I miss a day or - God forbid - a week. I'll do what I can.

Another regular - I got to stop this. It's not something to be proud of.

Azri is finally introduced!*

Don't hold your breath, but I'm thinking of attempting to update semi-regularly; ie. that means setting myself a deadline each Sunday. Let's see how long this lasts!

Also, if the strip looks a bit different today, that's because I've decided to completely vectorise the entire thing, from the frames to the speech bubbles! If it doesn't, well - er, ignore that then. Oh, and the profile has been updated with a new, spanking picture as well as a better summarised version of what it said before. Have a good week.

* Note : The saddest thing about this is that it actually happened in RL, embarrassingly while [info]scrunge was filming us for a video for her mom. D:

Shine - the Not-Quite-Sunday Strip.  
Long story short, I transferred school co-curriculum activity clubs from the useless art club to the slightly less useless school magazine club this year. Being the only person with any artistic inclination [suprisingly and terrifyingly so], I was immediately pounced on to produce about...I don't know, about 50% of the May/June magazine's graphics [of which enthusiasm quickly drained out when I was called the night before publishing to produce a 'Synapse Wants You' (directly quoted, I swear) page to put at the back - I asked if this was for recruitment or feedback, but no one had any damn idea. I put Uncle Sam in the end and my History teacher loved me] and the front and back pages. The back page, they said rather obliquely, was supposed to be a comic with the theme of the magazine - 'Shine'.

I don't know what they were expecting [maybe something like this (dated 2001, I draw like this now)] but I drew it anyway.

( Incidentally, the publishing process went belly-up and the Uncle Sam 'WE WANT YOU' feedback page got printed at the back instead, so 'Shine - the Not-Quite-Sunday strip' ended up being on the second-last page of the magazine. )

The thing that I forgot to say, in the early parts of this post, is that it's obviously not part of the YBH canon going on right now. Djinn was throttling me about the schoolgirl sparkle throughout the duration I was colouring it.

On the other hand, a bonus of another YBH thing I did for school. In the annual 'Family Day' event of last year, we were enterprisingly selling cheese fondue, so I made a poster [that has now permutated into the lovely Brains icon that Djinn coloured and animated; I'm using it for this post] and we put it all up around the school, including on the base of an extremely phallic sculpture in the school garden. After the festival was over, we went to pick the posters off the places we put them up, only to find that half of them had been stolen.

( Why the hell would anyone want to steal this?? )

A week later my classmate came to tell me that she saw it in someone's folder. O_o
